Rosta ‘maintenance-free’ motorbase fit for hazardous environments

The Rosta Motorbase ATEX is a mechanical pretensioning device designed for use in hazardous areas according to the ATEX 94/9/EC Directive. The maintenance-free device offers many benefits to customers when used in friction belt drives. 

Motorbase details

Rosta developed its Motorbase ATEX to tension belts based on the test force recommendations of belt suppliers. The unit is self tensioning, which means no additional check is required after installation, providing users with a long maintenance-free period.

The Motorbase MB ATEX is available in different models with a range of frame and motor sizes. The lineup is designed according to the ATEX 94/9/EC Directive, and the applicable European Harmonized Standards (EN 1127-1:2011, EN 13463-1:2009 and EN 13463-5:2011), which means these units can be installed in a variety of classified areas. Appropriate environments include Zone 1, for gas presence IIC group, temperature class T5; Zone 21, for dust presence, maximum surface temperature T100 degrees C; and environments with ambient temperatures from -40 to 80 degrees C.

The MB ATEX Series offers many benefits when used in friction belt drives. For example, there is no need for complex readjustment of the pulleys, resulting in fast belt changing. The units offer maintenance-free tensioning, so there is no need for periodical compensation of belt elongation. In addition, because the motorbase is designed to provide the ideal belt tension, constant transmission of nominal torque and less energy consumption, the lifetime of the belt is extended. The units also offer noiseless power transmission, and many other advantages.
