ACLO Compounders benefited highly from an N.R. Murphy dust-collection solution.

When a company has stayed in business for more than 75 years, it likely has a long track record of success stories. Such is the case with N.R. Murphy Limited, known for enhancing workplaces with quality dust collector systems. One success story involved ACLO Compounders, a custom compounder of thermoplastic resins, which turned to N.R. Murphy for a solution to dust issues several years ago.

Meeting the highest expectations

The ACLO plant was having a problem with airborne dust, like pigment and powder, which interfered with the company’s efforts to achieve an exacting colour-match system. The dust was not hazardous to workers’ health; the Ontario Ministry of Labour classified it as non-toxic “nuisance dust”. But ACLO needed a new dust collector to improve the working environment and enhance product quality.

ACLO consulted with several producers of dust collector systems. In the end, the decision was easy: the project was awarded to N.R. Murphy. “Murphy’s overall experience stood out when compared to other suppliers,” said ACLO senior technical/manufacturing manager Tom Stockford, “as the Murphy team offered concrete ideas and suggestions throughout the planning stages.”

N.R. Murphy recommended using one of its Model HEC-330-8 dust collector systems. This was a continuous-duty, automatic-self-cleaning dust collector with twin top air inlets, top bag removal through walk-in plenum for convenient and inexpensive maintenance, interior mounted compressed-air manifold, explosion-relief latched doors, safety ladder, platform and railings, and an inline duct silencer in the return air line. This system had a capacity of 26,685 cubic feet of air per minute and a return-heat-to-plant exchanger. Measuring ten by 20 by 31 feet, the collector had a storage capacity of 85 cubic feet.

ACLO installed the system right away, and the results were immediately apparent. “There were no disappointments with N.R. Murphy Limited’s quality system,” said Stockford, “which meets our highest expectations.”

Getting this kind of work is typical for N.R. Murphy, as the firm often attracts businesses that sell quality products and therefore expect the same quality standards from others. Expect the best industrial air-quality solutions, always delivered and installed on time.
