Type MR exhaust fans, for example, are designed for air or very light (fine) dust loadings, and dynamically balanced to highly controlled design specifications for smooth operation. They are direct drive only, and fabricated from heavy gauge welded steel; however, N.R. Murphy can provide extra heavy housing and wheel construction with oversized shaft and bearings for applications where large concentrations of heavy abrasive materials are present. If spark-resistant models are required, the company can also construct the fan (or parts of it) in non-ferrous material.

Industrial exhaust fans are designed for larger applications. They are available in a range of sizes and capacities, and with different wheel designs and fan arrangements, to meet the needs of specific applications. There is also an extensive selection of fan accessories and various construction options for heavy abrasive materials and spark resistance.

Every fan is manufactured to meet exacting design specifications using only the best materials. The industrial fan’s housing is constructed with heavy gauge steel and braced with steel angles, while the scroll wrap is continuously welded to the side plates for a rugged and dust-tight casing. In addition, heavy-duty, self-aligning pillow block bearings are securely fastened to a strong plate pedestal.
