Three types of generators are available from Red-D-Arc.

Power outages can be disastrous in many workplaces, like construction sites, without reliable electricity backup. So a dependable power generator is a frequent requirement to power all needed tools on worksites. Red-D-Arc Welderentals offers generators for sale or rent for this purpose, or as a supplementary or backup supply as a precaution. A recent blog entry by Red-D-Arc offers tips on how to select the appropriate generator.

Various degrees of power

Different kinds of generators offer various degrees of power to suit different requirements. Red-D-Arc offers three categories of high-performance generators. First, diesel container generators are typically used as high-power outputs at outdoor events; they can also provide power for emergency and utility facilities. Power capacities can range from 500 to 2,000 kilowatts. Many plants that need uninterrupted power have several diesel container generators in place constantly.

Diesel towable generators are most recommended for temporary or emergency needs; they are also useful for powering essential tools or equipment and have lower power capacities than diesel container generators have. Gas generators usually power smaller devices, like 120/240-volt power tools, fans, and lighting equipment; their power capacities range from 2,500 to 7,500 kilowatts, or 1,000 to 10,000 kilowatts for inverter generators.

To choose a power generator, Red-D-Arc suggests the following factors to consider:

  • Determine how much wattage is required. This is done by adding the wattages of everything that will be plugged into the generator, which gives an idea of how big the generator should be.
  • Most generators have decibel ratings. It is often a good idea to rent a generator equipped with sound-reduction technology if the employees will be close to it for long periods of time.
  • The customer must consider the fuel source of the power generator. Diesel and gas are the two most frequently available options. If a lot of gas or diesel is already being used in an application, it may be wise to get a generator that uses the same fuel type. While gas generators are typically quieter and cheaper, diesel ones often handle heavier loads for longer periods.
