Norpak Handling can supply the Hytrol E24, a 24-volt live roller conveyor. Whether the application calls for versatility, reliability or ease of maintenance, Hytrol E24 conveyors can tackle the job. In fact, these units offer a number of advantages over DC-powered motorized roller systems, according to a recent blog post on the Norpak Handling website.

Motorized roller driven vs. E24 powered

There are many reasons to select a Hytrol E24 conveyor over motorized roller systems. The top considerations, according to Norpak, are:

  • Versatility. A motorized roller is simply a conveyor roller with a motor and gearbox, and it is only designed to be a drive roller within a live roller conveyor tread. An E24 drive, on the other hand, is a motor used to power zones of a live roller conveyor or portions of a meter belt or ancillary assemblies, such as pop up transfers or swivel wheel diverters.
  • Fewer moving parts. All motorized roller drives have a number of moving parts, including the motor and the gearing required to turn the roller housing. By contrast, an E24 drive motor has just one rotating part — the motor rotor supported by its bearings. This leads to reduced wear and tear, and a significantly lower failure rate.
  • Motor position. With motorized roller drives, separate drive assemblies are required for each width of conveyor, and the incorporated motor must be small enough to fit within the roller tube. In addition, heat build up, which leads to internal component damage, is a significant problem. An E24 motor, on the other hand, is installed in the open air and has a larger diameter that promotes heat dissipation to avoid this problem.
  • Life expectancy. E24 motors have a quoted life expectancy of 125,000 hours, compared to the 20,000-hour average lifetime of a motorized roller conveyor system.

The clear winner

Norpak concludes that the overall efficiency of E24 powered conveyors will always beat the competition thanks to these key factors. To learn more, contact Norpak Handling
