The VeriPac 465 device by PTI

Alpha Controls & Instrumentation Inc. carries several options by PTI for vacuum-decay testing. Vacuum decay is a container integrity test method that has been trusted for decades and improved with technological advances. Using the fundamental physical properties, this technique gives dependable, reproducible, repeatable, and accurate quantitative results every time.

Available in several VeriPac solutions manufactured by PTI, vacuum decay has been esteemed as the most practical, sensitive leak-detection method on the market.

Manual or automated operation

With the VeriPac inspection method, businesses can use vacuum-decay technology to evaluate packages in a non-destructive way. This goes for such package types as filled and sealed rigid, semi-rigid, or flexible packaging made from porous or non-porous material. PTI VeriPac devices are designed to detect leaks as small as the single-digit micron range.

Each VeriPac leak tester connects to a test chamber specifically designed to contain the package to be tested. The package is placed inside the chamber to which the user applies vacuum. The single or dual vacuum-transducer technological monitors the chamber for the vacuum level and the vacuum change over a certain period. The changes in absolute and differential vacuum indicate any leaks or defects within the package. These test systems can be designed for manual or fully automated operation. Ideal for laboratory offline testing and production applications for QA/QC statistical process control, each test takes only a few seconds, without invading or damaging the package.

VeriPac inspection systems use an ASTM-approved vacuum-decay leak-test technique, recognized by the United States Food and Drug Administration as a consensus standard for package integrity testing. The criteria for choosing the right VeriPac model from Alpha Controls depend on the type of package and the desired sensitivity of the leak test. Users can optimize configurations with single or dual high-resolution transducers as well as the kind of vacuum supply – for example, internal, external, or high vacuum.

PTI makes seven models of VeriPac vacuum-decay leak testers. For a closer look at the VeriPac 465 model, watch the video below:
