Protal ST Epoxy from Denso is a two-part, high-solids, fast-drying coating.

Protal ST Epoxy Mastic is a surface tolerant liquid coating for use in applications where steel grit blasting is not possible. It is a two-part, high-solids, fast-drying epoxy coating that provides top protection in long-term exterior exposure.

High penetration and adhesive qualities

Protal ST Epoxy Mastic is applicable both on its own and in combination with other topcoats for long-term exposure to water, for tasks involving structural steel, pipe externals, pipe racks, tanks, offshore platforms, locks, gates, and bridges. The user can apply it directly onto wire-brushed rusty steel substrates, and its high penetration and adhesive qualities guarantee long-time protection.

To apply this coating, the user begins by removing loose scale, rust or foreign matter from the surface as per SP2 “Hand Cleaning” or SP3 “Power Tool Cleaning” or by high-pressure water wash. The surface should then be cleaned and dried with compressed air or brushing and have a faint metallic sheen.

The Protal ST hardener is then poured and mixed thoroughly into the base component and then applied onto the substrate. Application temperature is -29°C to 52°C, and the substrate temperature must be no lower than three degrees Celsius above the dew-point temperature. If temperature falls below 10°C, the surface must be preheated.
