pipeline liquid coatings

Denso makes four kinds of Protal pipeline coatings.

Denso North America remains a leader in corrosion-prevention and sealing technology, offering an unsurpassed portfolio of infrastructure products. Among these solutions is the Protal brand of pipeline liquid coatings. Denso supplies a complete range of quick-curing, high-build epoxies for anti-corrosion protection, both above and below ground. Workers can easily apply these coatings by brush, roller, or spray, in environments with high or low temperatures.

High-build protection

Protal coatings offer high-build protection in typically a single-coat application. Other major advantages include high adhesion, excellent abrasion resistance, and outstanding cathodic disbondment results.

Protal pipeline liquid coatings from Denso are highly recommended for the following uses and applications:

  • Liquid coating to protect girth welds, tie-ins, and fittings from corrosion;
  • Liquid coating of welds for boring applications;
  • Repairs to FBE, fittings, and fabrication;
  • Rehabilitation of existing pipelines; and
  • Coating of cadweld areas.

Protal 7200 is a VOC-free, two-part epoxy coating designed specifically for FBE-coated pipes; it is also suitable for onsite protection of girth welds, tie-ins, and welds for boring applications, as well as FBE repairs, push-rack applications, station piping, fittings, and fabrications. Protal 7125 is made specifically for rehabilitation of low-temperature, in-service operating pipelines, and it also works for station piping, girth welds, tie-ins, push racks in laybarge applications, FBE-fitting repairs, and fabrication.

Protal 7900HT, is a high-temperature coating for pipelines that operate at temperatures up to 121 degrees Celsius; it also suits girth welds, pipes, fittings, calves, and fabrication. Protal ST epoxy mastic is a surface-tolerant liquid coating used when steel grit blasting is impossible; users can apply it alone or with other topcoats for long-term exposure to water on structural steel, pipe externals, pipe racks, tanks, offshore platforms, locks, gates, or bridges.
