Parker's D1FP and D3FP proportional directional control valves, available from Wainbee

Efficient design is a common advantage of equipment from Wainbee Limited. For example, Parker makes two lines of proportional directional control valves – the D1FP and D3FP series – both of which meet the highest standards in terms of dynamics combined with high flow, optionally with an EtherCAT interface. These direct-operated control valves are today’s preferred choice for dynamic hydraulic controls, with several advantages over traditional drives.

Successful breakthrough in drive technology

Parker directional control valves can optimize high-end hydraulic systems and standard applications at minimum initial and maintenance costs, and the patented Voice Coil Drive VCD matches servo valves in its high level of performance.

The VCD technology represents a successful breakthrough in the drive technology for proportional directional control valves: unlike in standard proportional solenoid drives, Voice Coil Drive actuates the spool by using a movable coil over a fixed permanent magnet. The coil is mechanically connected with the spool, and the friction-free actuator system actively moves the spool to the required position. Movement direction depends on the given current direction, and a high-resolution feedback system sends back the actual position. If a power failure occurs, a spring moves the spool to a defined position.

Among the advantages and highlights of these valves from Wainbee:

  • No active return spring required;
  • Low moved masses by high force density;
  • No additional bearing in actuator;
  • Real servo-valve dynamics that ensure optimized cycle times, ideal for demanding applications;
  • Very good repeatability, with better process and product accuracy;
  • Robust valve design, for minimal failure;
  • Digital electronics that users can easily adapt to specific applications, resulting in more flexibility;
  • Short delivery time, with no storage required;
  • Defined spool positioning and power-down;
  • Optional EtherCAT interface, for high data speeds and short cycle times; and
  • Optional freely configurable supervising control circuit.

These proportional directional control valves also offer more efficiency, with enhanced process and product accuracy through high-precision production and higher machine output due to shorter cycle times. Lower costs result from reduced downtime through the robust design and short delivery times.
