Prefabricated specialty buildings designed for specific customer needs

Excess Space Solutions (ESS) knows that every customer is unique. That’s why the Mississauga, Ont.-based company has a large product development department dedicated to fulfilling custom requirements for customers across many industries.   

The company manufactures a wide range of high-quality prefabricated specialty buildings — from control rooms, operator pulpits, electrical control buildings and equipment shelters, to storage buildings, pump houses, below ground offices and shelters for the mining industry. 

Equipment enclosures: One customer required an enclosure to protect and secure environmental water testing equipment in remote locations.

Control booths: Custom designed to meet customer equipment control or supervisory personnel requirements, ESS control booths are pre-assembled and shipped in one piece, or pre-manufactured as a kit for on-site assembly in confined areas.

Educational facilities: One customer required a prefabricated portable building designed for use as an educational facility in a remote location. Replica stone skirting was installed on the building to blend in with the design of existing structures. The building was pre-assembled and delivered in two pieces to the customer. 

Split-type portable office: ESS designed an 18-foot by 18-foot prefabricated in-plant office for one customer using its 100+ Modular Wall Panels and a heavy-duty steel framed floor assembly. This office was designed as a split-type unit for economical shipping and ease of manoeuvring within the manufacturing plant.

Underground mine facilities: The ESS 100+ Demountable Wall System and Structural Steel Mezzanines have been used in underground mine applications. In these instances, all materials are pre-manufactured and packaged to fit in mine elevators. 

Ticket booth: ESS has designed and manufactured prefabricated portable ticket booths featuring an HVAC system, millwork and a washroom facility complete with fresh water and sanitary storage tanks. These units can easily be relocated at any time. 

Airport security enclosures: An international airport requested that ESS design a security enclosure to house x-ray scanning equipment for incoming luggage and parcels. The company’s 100+ modular wall components were shipped overseas in kit form for site assembly by local workers.
