Bergen's precision machining adds a unique edge.

Bergen Cable is known as a top supplier of industrial cable solutions with decades of experience in the field, yet customers benefit from more than products. One key edge that Bergen has over its competitors is the value it adds through its in-house secondary operations – including precision machining services.

While the Bergen team offers traditional machining methods, customers also benefit from current CNC machining technology for customized cable solutions.

Short lead times, reasonable pricing

These in-house precision machining services allow Bergen to improve its custom cable fittings and hardware via its versatile machine shop, giving customers high-quality customized solutions with short lead times and reasonable pricing. Bergen works closely with reliable vendors for plating, heat treating, painting, and testing. Precision machining is used for many purposes, like custom-machined end fittings, standalone components, and more.

The company offers three types of precision machining services. One method is CNC Swiss screw machining. The company owns five axis screw machines in its facility, allowing its staff to make a variety of components with diameters ranging from miniature to two centimetres. This process is recommended for producing components with small diameters and complex geometry while maintaining tight tolerance. This equipment can accommodate small prototype quantities and volumes exceeding 100,000.

The second method, CNC turning, is performed by the Bergen Cable crew on its own CNC lathes in order to machine components up to 16 inches in length and 14 inches in diameter. The bar feeders on the lathes can feed materials of up to 1¾ inches in diameter constantly, resulting in nonstop, high-volume production. Part catchers and chip conveyors also help to keep production going continuously, which reduces needless downtime.

The Bergen machine shop also includes high-speed vertical milling centres for CNC milling. These centres provide full secondary machining operations for components that the team has already machined on the CNC lathes and screw machines. Standalone milled products from this milling equipment is also available.

With its impressive range of capabilities, Bergen can make precision-machined components, lanyards, termination bands, and other kinds of cable and cable assemblies.
