Incremental rotary encoders packaged in a cube-shaped housing have been popular with machine builders for more than half a century, as they are easy to install with no special mounts or brackets. The POSITAL team has imbued these encoders with new features and capabilities, making them ready for future industrial challenges.
Shock and vibration tolerance
These units are designed around the manufacturer’s versatile magnetic measurement platform. The measurement module inside each cube offers high levels of accuracy and dynamic response in a rugged, robust housing that is tolerant of shock and vibration loading, dust, and moisture. Another advantage of these measurement modules is that they are programmable. Users can set the resolution anywhere from one to 16,384 pulses per revolution by simply updating the devices’ software. Also defined through the software are pulse direction and the output driver – either Push-Pull (HTL), RS422 (TTL), or Open Collector (NPN). These changes can be made with POSITAL’s easy-to-use UBIFAST configuration tool. No mechanical changes needed!

Programmable devices allow vendors or users to hold a relatively small stock of standard models and set them up for specific applications when required.
