magnetic encoders

POSITAL has just upgraded its IXARC magnetic absolute encoders with optional connection caps.

POSITAL has recently made its line of IXARC magnetic absolute encoders even better. These magnetic encoders with CANopen interfaces now come with optional connection caps, which are designed to make troubleshooting and configuration of the devices easier and more intuitive.

Already ideal for motion-control applications such as cranes, container ports, and standard factory automation, POSITAL’s IXARC magnetic encoders are now available with a much simpler setup process that reduces installation costs.

The most robust measurement technology

To set up previous versions of the IXARC encoder, users needed special tools and expertise to update software parameters. But with the optional connection cap, an installer can use a small screwdriver to define the node ID and baud-rate directly, with the cap’s three rotary switches. In addition, the diagnostic LEDs on the back of the cap make setup and debugging simpler by indicating the device and network status. Cable installation for power supply and bus-in/bus-out is now easier and more flexible with the eight screw terminals inside the connection cap, and users can activate a termination resistor with a slide switch when the encoder is located at the end of a network.

Employers can choose from among a variety of connection-cap options, such as cable glands for different cable lengths and M12 connectors for pre-assembled cable. Users can connect multiple devices in a daisy chain without T-couplers, with the help of caps with two or three connectors.

POSITAL’s IXARC magnetic encoders are nearly 30 per cent more compact than optical encoders are. They also have greater shock and vibration resistance and can withstand harsh environmental conditions, with an IP 66/67 protection rating. These encoders employ the most robust measurement technology and come in single and multi-turn versions; the latter include self-powered rotation counters, which do not require backup batteries and have a measurement range of four billion revolutions.
