The PTi120 pocket thermal imager by Fluke

Fluke is a key manufacturer of measurement solutions, all of which are available in Canada via Chevrier Instruments Inc. A relatively recent innovation by the Fluke team is the PTi120 pocket thermal imager – a camera that gives users the power of a professional-grade thermal imager, yet can fit right into one’s pocket. With the help of Fluke Connect Asset Tagging, this unique device helps users to organize and file thermal images automatically and to share them from the field.

(NOTE: This unit will be available from Chevrier at a special price until June 28. An upgraded version will be available at that time; the older unit will not be upgradeable, as the modifications are hardware-based.)

With small LCD touchscreen

The PTi120 is a rugged, portable, fully radiometric camera that works for all types of industrial inspection. It offers measurement information to the pixel with 120-by-90 infrared resolution, or 10,800 pixels, with premium image quality. The device is strong enough to survive drops of up to one metre, and it holds an IP54 enclosure rating.

Fluke Connect eliminates the time-consuming process of sorting through infrared images. Users can simply scan an asset’s QR code or bar code to store each file to predefined folders with dates and time-stamped data. This pocket thermal imager processes fast scans of electrical equipment, machinery, and similar assets, while resisting water and dirt. All these benefits come in a camera small enough to carry every workday with virtually no risk.

Another advantage: the 3½-inch LCD touchscreen, offering IR-Fusion to blend visible light images with infrared images to locate issues easily. The user just slides a finger across the screen to adjust settings. Other technical specifications of this pocket thermal imager from Chevrier:

  • Accuracy: plus or minus two per cent at minimum zero degrees Celsius
  • AutoBlend mode: continuous from zero to 100 per cent
  • Batteries: internal, rechargeable lithium ion battery
  • Distance to spot: 130 to one

  • Focus system: fixed focus; minimum focus distance of 22.8 centimetres
