Picomag electromagnetic flowmeter by Endress+Hauser has new features

Endress+Hauser’s pocket-sized Picomag provides simple, reliable, and maintenance-free flow measurement. It has a user-friendly, auto-rotatable 1.4" display, for automatic adjustment to the mounting position. With freely selectable I/Os, a customer can select analog or digital communications with IO-Link.

Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. manufactures many innovative measurement tools, like the extremely compact Picomag electromagnetic flowmeter. This device already represented the peak of maintenance-free flow measurement, but the company has added important enhancements. These include temperature-compensated conductivity measurement and better measuring accuracy, now down to plus or minus 0.8 per cent.

Small enough to fit in the user’s pocket, Picomag offers a no-compromise solution for simple, reliable measurement, including quantity measurement and process monitoring of water.

Clear and quick configuration

This new upgrade of the Picomag electromagnetic flowmeter requires no inlet/outlet runs, so one can mount it directly before or after pipe bends. Another advantage is the ability to export configuration data in PDF form to archive in a computer or mobile device.

Picomag provides intuitive operation in the field with Bluetooth and the SmartBlue App, offering clear, quick configuration via a commissioning wizard. The user-friendly, auto-rotatable 1.4-inch display enables automatic adjustment to the mounting position, and the freely selectable I/Os allow users to choose analog or digital communications with IO-Link. Picomag is Endress+Hauser’s first flowmeter to offer IO-Link technology, which reduces complexity and boosts productivity by connecting simpler devices to any fieldbus system.

This electromagnetic flowmeter is available in a range from ½ an inch to two inches. It is the ideal cost-optimized solution for accurately measuring water flow, minimizing energy costs in utility applications, and other tasks that require high repeatability and reliable measured values. Endress+Hauser recommends Picomag for process temperatures between minus ten and 85 degrees Celsius and for process pressures up to 232 pounds per square inch.

Its small size and stainless steel housing allows users to install it into pipes up to 50 millimetres in diameter, even in tight spaces. The large display enables easy reading of flow, temperature, conductivity, and totalizer values. With Bluetooth connectivity, users can retrieve wireless configuration or data from up to ten metres away, even at installation sites that are hard to access.
