Cobots work even more productively with the help of Pickit's 3D cameras.

Industrial automation has become very convenient in recent years, with robotic solutions from Advanced Motion & Controls Ltd. The supplier offers robotic arms, or “cobots”, by Universal Robots (UR) – and these devices are even easier to use with Pickit’s three-dimensional vision solutions. Pickit 3D cameras enable users to guide cobots to pick and place many products, boosting productivity and speed profoundly.

Three camera models available

Many manufacturing operations require workers to order, place, and pick objects of different shapes, materials, and sizes and feed many of them into machines or processes. This has often been a difficult task to automate, even with UR’s great robot solutions, due to imperfect vision. Pickit’s 3D cameras are the perfect choice for this issue, offering a superior user experience.

This plug-and-play solution consists of the camera and easy-to-use 3D picking software, ready to run on any dedicated industrial processor. The user can start automating immediately, whether the application is bin picking, pallet unloading, machine loading, or any other pick-and-place task. The camera and software work together with the cobot to detect the three-dimensional position, orientation, and dimensions of every object.

Advanced Motion & Controls Ltd. offers three different off-the-shelf models of these Pickit products. All three include all the required tools to set up a vision-guided robotic application, such as state-of-the-art 3D vision software pre-installed on an industrial processor and a capable 3D camera. These three versions are the following:

  • M-HD. Recommended for picking small- and medium-sized objects with high accuracy from bins, boxes, or tables. Highly accurate, best-in-class high-resolution camera.
  • M. The best fit for medium-sized objects, with the market’s quickest return on investment. Highly versatile camera; no parameters; real plug-and-play.
  • L. For picking large objects from pallets or bins. Similar benefits to those of the M model.
