KVMs are among the peripherals available for VisuNet HMI workstations.

Process Instruments and Components Inc. (PIC) has been a major Canadian supplier of industrial solutions for hazardous work environments for more than a quarter of a century. The company’s lineup of products includes a range of VisuNet operator workstations from Pepperl+Fuchs, a trusted producer of automation products for a variety of industries.

VisuNet operator workstations are available with different designs and mounting options – as well as three types of peripherals that also work with custom standalone solutions.

Readers, converters, and keyboards

Among the Pepperl+Fuchs peripherals that PIC carries for VisuNet operator workstations is a comprehensive range of hazardous-location handheld barcode readers and keyboards, plus flexible networking equipment KVMs and fibre-optic converters. Examples include Division 2-rated CAT5 or fibre KVM extenders.

The three main types of peripherals available are as follows:

  • Hazardous-location barcode readers. These industrial-grade barcode scanners are compatible with ATEX Zone 1/21 and Division 2 environments.
  • Division 2 KVMs. Pepperl+Fuchs is an exclusive manufacturer of Division 2 KVM extenders, which are available in fibre and CATx copper types. The KVMs are capable of transmitting either VGA or DVI video, keyboard, and mouse signals through USB or PS2, audio, and serial touchscreen information.
  • Hazardous-location keyboards. These rugged industrial keyboards have antibacterial, chemically resistant keyboard foils and a variety of pointing options. Pepperl+Fuchs hazardous-location keyboards have been certified for use in Class 1, Division 2, and ATEX Zone 1/21.

These peripherals make up just one way that Pepperl+Fuchs allows its customers to put together their own VisuNet and HMI systems. With PIC’s help, companies can choose from a wide range of options, including mounting hardware, pointing devices, and optional interfaces. Whatever the area classification, functional requirement, specification, screen size and type, or power-supply requirement, Pepperl+Fuchs can supply the right answer.

Pepperl+Fuchs remains a leading international producer of HMI systems for dangerous work environments. The company fills a unique niche in process automation, with workstations and components that solve environmental challenges and obstacles in hazardous areas.
