Badger Meter offers a dual rotor turbine meter that delivers advantages not attainable with single rotor designs. Known as the Cox Exact Dual Rotor Turbine Flow Meter, this unit provides exceptional performance, superior accuracy, versatility and many more benefits, making it a top choice for a wide range of testing applications.

A patented design

The meter has a patented, hydraulically coupled helical dual rotor design. The second rotor has a high incidence angle that results in turndowns from 120:1 on the smallest meter, to 500:1 on larger meters. This exceptional flow range allows universal viscosity curves to blend over a 60:1 turndown range, and often means that costly manifold systems are not required. This wide turndown range offers superior absolute accuracy.

The dual rotor design also eliminates the need for flow straighteners. This is because swirl effects on the leading rotor will have an opposite effect on the trailing rotor, which virtually eliminates rotor acceleration and the need for flow straighteners. However, flow straighteners can be used to monitor the two rotors to determine bearing health.

Additional features built into the design include reduced friction ceramic ball bearings, and a unique embedded pickoff system impervious to vibration. The result is a system with an exceptional response speed, reduced pressure drop and a rugged 316 stainless steel housing that offers reliability in challenging applications.

A versatile meter

These units can be used in a wide range of onboard vehicle, flight and critical applications. For example, they are suitable for OEM flight and hydraulic component testing, on-board aerospace and automotive testing, precision flow monitoring, precision industrial blending processes, engine test cells and more.

The units are offered in two models — the CDX (explosion-proof) and CDL (low profile). They are available in Canada from Durham Instruments, a leading supplier of superior quality measuring instruments. To learn more, contact Durham Instruments.
