safety lockout valves

Wainbee supplies three series of safety lockout valves manufactured by Parker.

Wainbee Limited is an important supplier of industrial equipment that increases machine safety. This includes products by Parker, such as its line of safety lockout valves. Available in three series – EZ, LV, and LVSS – these lockout/tag-out valves are fully compliant with the strict standards of the United States Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), specifically OSHA 29 CFR part 1910. They are designed as energy-isolation devices for maintenance purposes, but not as E-stops.

Verification of line exhaust

Parker’s safety lockout valves are superior to traditional ball valves in many ways. Unlike standard valves, they are dedicated energy-isolation devices with full exhaust ports and verification of line exhaust. In addition, the Parker valves can be locked only when in the OFF position, and they are more easily identifiable that traditional ball valves are.

Port sizes for these valves from Wainbee range from ¼ to 2 inches, and the full exhaust decreases maintenance time significantly, which increases uptime. These safety lockout valves also have fluorocarbon slipper seals for easy shifting, even after long inactive periods, and built-in pressure-verification ports that distinguish them from competitors’ products.

The LV series comes in compact, standard, and high-flow variations. These valves operate in pressure ranges from 15 to 145 psi and temperatures from 5 to 79 degrees Celsius. They require filtered compressed air at 5 micron. The standard design is ideal for most applications and comes in a wide variety of port sizes, although the compact version is more lightweight and recommended for packaging and machine tools, while the high-flow version is ideal for power generation and pulp and paper.

The EZ series meets the same basic standards as the LV valves (30-150 psi), but also has a soft start when opened. These valves have two detented handle positions, along with adjustable needle valves that control the rate of pressure buildup when the valves are pulled open; this feature protects equipment during start-up after maintenance.

The LVSS series also meets the same safety standards, but are made of corrosion-resistant 316 stainless steel. These are recommended for wash-down applications, particularly in food processing, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and oil and gas.
