The PCH network portal by Parker

Wainbee Limited offers a new approach to Ethernet communication modules that redefines machine input/output architecture: the PCH network portal by Parker. This device can communicate with many of the controllers used in the automation sector, as an Ethernet node with IO-Link master capability that supports multiple protocols like PROFINET and EtherCAT.

The Parker PCH is recommended for applications like material handling, vehicle body assembly, assembly lines, end-of-arm tooling, and automated equipment, particularly in the automotive, packaging, and general manufacturing sectors.

No additional software required

Using this network portal is like having a built-in technician in a workplace facility, with the added boost that no additional software is required. The PCH is classified as a Cyber Physical System due to its ability to communicate across machinery while offering maximum function integration, simplicity of use, and significant architecture cost reductions.

Parker has engineered this device for flexible manufacturing applications with frequent machine changes, in which PLCs are not always accessible and obstacles on the plant floor make setup, configuration, and troubleshooting time-consuming. The PCH network portal from Wainbee is built with configurable I/O with true PNP/NPN circuitry switching and the open protocol, IO-Link, on each port for easy machine-design changes. The device can future-proof machines to changes in network architecture with its built-in configurable IO-Link master ports all packing into an IP65 housing that resists weld splatter. Even an unseasoned programmer can conduct troubleshooting and integration easily, with programming functions like debounce timers, time-stamped rolling 40 errors, warnings, and event logs.

Operators can use many intuitive interfaces in conjunction with a PLC when commissioning or troubleshooting, like the embedded web-page version of the PCH portal configuration tool. Configuration is possible through a laptop, tablet, or phone via a secure, lockable Bluetooth connection; remote control of the device enhances worker safety, especially when robot controllers or end-effector tooling is involved.

The PCH enables the flexibility of expanded I/O in various applications, allowing low-cost integration of other devices. The integrated flexibility makes expensive Ethernet masters, safety blocks, and cabling unnecessary. The PCH can adapt to meet changing user needs.
