The Parker air saver unit, available from Wainbee

Efficient design is a factor that many businesses look for in their industrial equipment, and Wainbee Limited’s inventory satisfies this need with many innovative solutions. One of these solutions is the Parker air saver unit, an environmentally friendly device for reducing air consumption, as well as carbon-dioxide emissions in manufacturing plants.

This air saver unit is a valve that converts a continuous air blow into a pulsed one with no need for any other external control. The user easily controls the air consumption with simple ON and OFF pulses.

Reducing air consumption by half

Available in seven different series – including the ASV200, ASC/ASO500, ASV2000, and ASV5000 – this product from Wainbee offers several major benefits for users. Nearly 50 per cent of all compressed air that manufacturing plants use consists of air blowing. So with the Parker unit’s simple switching-valve technology, a facility can lower its air consumption by up to half.

Other notable advantages of this air saver unit include the following:

  • Savings in compressor power consumption;
  • Decreased carbon-dioxide emissions in plants;
  • Large contributions to energy savings; and
  • Higher level of efficiency.

Installing this unit is easy. The user can quickly retrofit the device when using an electrically operated solenoid valve to control the air blow, to reduce air consumption immediately without changing the PLC program. Parker recommends installing the unit within three metres from the air-blow orifice to get the benefits of pulsed air, or less than one metre away for maximum effectiveness. When using ball valves or other manual valves, the ASV200, ASV2000, or ASV5000 should be installed, as they do not require electricity. Installation brings instant air-consumption reduction and higher compressor efficiency to the plant.

These units are highly useful in all sorts of applications that require air blow. Common examples include drying applications, car paint spraying, swarf removal, cooling and liquid removal after the manufacturing process, ionizer dust removal on electrical parts, and PET bottle transfer. They are also recommended as pneumatic solutions for beverage and bottle plants, particularly in blow molding, conveying, and printing machines.
