The Type AV oscillating mounting by Rosta

Rosta Inc. manufactures high-end elements for many Canadian industries. The company has mastered three forms of technology: rubber suspensions, oscillating conveyors, and tensioning. One of Rosta’s top solutions is the Type AV oscillating mounting, a maintenance-free elastic joint for guiding circular motions of hanging screens, especially gyratory sifters.

The Type AV mounting is recommended for use in the chemical, food-processing, and pulp and paper industries. It suits any manufacturing workplaces that use hanging screens in their processes, including flour mills, paper mills, and chemical processing plants.

Protects ceilings and building structures

What makes the Type AV stand out among Rosta’s lineup of components and elements is that the rubber insert inside is larger than those in the others. The larger insert allows the mounting to absorb the vibrations of the hanging sifters more intensively, in order to protect ceilings and building structures more effectively. This oscillating mounting typically has a cast aluminum housing, and every one has a core constructed out of aluminum profiles. And for the past five years, Rosta has produced the Type AV with an inner square made of light metal profiles, although it still sells the older design as a special element.

The Type AV oscillating mounting has provided significant benefits to Rosta customers across Canada and around the world. For example, a screening-machine manufacturer in Florence, KY named SWECO invested in this product a few years ago, when it required a new option for supporting screen boxes in its gyratory sifter. The current sifter had 5,500-kilogram screen boxes mounted on four truck drive shafts, resulting in inadequate lubrication and one-sided wear on the bearing bushings. SWECO staff had to replace eight universal joints on a semiannual basis, which wasted both time and production.

Maintenance was excessive, so SWECO tuned to Rosta for a better solution. Rosta recommended the Type AV. After SWECO applied these mountings, joint replacement became unnecessary, and assembly and re-levelling of sifting boxes suddenly became faster and easier. To this day, four SWECO gyratory sifters have undergone several years of nonstop operation with no evidence of wear.
