low temperature petrolatum tape

Denso LT petrolatum tape is an ideal choice for waterproofing catch basins and chambers.

For decades, municipalities and other organizations have relied on Denso North America for top infrastructure solutions – including the company’s low temperature petrolatum tape. Among its other protective qualities, Denso LT tape is a proven waterproofing material, trusted for blocking water and air from contact with buried structures.

Ontario municipalities – including the City of Barrie – continue to choose Denso low temperature petrolatum tape for wrapping catch basins, chambers, and underground concrete structures.

A perfect success rate

When water infiltrates concrete structures, it can lead to such issues as loss of road material and subsequent potholes, erosion and failure of the structures, and ingress and infiltration into sanitary systems, which results in unnecessary treatment of groundwater. To prevent these problems, Denso’s low temperature petrolatum tape can be applied to seal structures, enabling them to remain waterproof even if the concrete underneath continues to crack.

Application of this tape is quick and simple. Users just remove it from the package and begin spirally wrapping the tape from six inches below the first joint with a 55 per cent overlap, wrapping upwards to create a down-shingle effect. Workers then smooth and press the tape to bond it intimately with the surface and eliminate air pockets. Afterwards, the users can immediately backfill the structure as the tape does not require any curing time.

When the risers crack, the tape’s flexibility will allow it to remain an effective way to keep water from infiltrating. Because the tape bonds to itself strongly, any folds or creases can be pressed down, providing a total seal to itself and the structure. On catch basins and chambers, this petrolatum tape covers the whole structure, or whatever specific joints require protection. For larger structures, workers can also use Denso Hi-Tack Primer and Hi-Tack Tape as well.

For nearly 15 years, the City of Barrie has trusted in Denso LT petrolatum tape on underground structures – and reports a 100 per cent success rate. This tape is easier and quicker to apply than other options are, and its longevity makes it a highly cost-efficient means of preventing ingress, infiltration, and road material loss.
