The ÖLFLEX® SERVO 7TCE flexible cable by LAPP

ÖLFLEX® has been a trusted name in the international cable industry for more than 60 years, thanks to the groundbreaking innovations of LAPP. Among the many high-quality products under this brand is the ÖLFLEX® SERVO 7TCE flexible cable, a tray-rated servo cable that is particularly useful for drives, motors, and assemblies.

The 7TCE has a rugged design that makes it effective even in the harshest work environments, with a specially formulated orange thermoplastic elastomer jacket.

Highly flexible and oil-resistant

This servo cable is most recommended for motor connections between servo controllers and motors on industrial machines, tray applications and moving machine parts, assembly handling, and integrated production systems. By blending quality servo motor connection with the advantages of tray cable, the 7TCE provides one dynamic cable solution for two requirements – eliminating the need for two different types of cable in a single application, while still complying with the NEC code.

Not only is this LAPP cable ultraviolet- and oil-resistant; it is also flame-retardant and can withstand the harsh cleaning and disinfecting solutions that are common in the food-processing and chemical industries. Its cross-linked XLPE insulation enables the cable to resist temperatures ranging from -40 to 105 degrees Celsius, while minimizing current leaks and capacitance. Insulation material with weak dielectric properties can reduce the lifetime of a cable, especially over longer runs, but XLPE has the strength to last.

The 7TCE has a low-capacitance design that allows for long-distance runs with limited loss in current and voltage; its nominal voltages are 600 volts (UL TC-ER) and 1,000 volts (UL Flexible Motor Supply), and its minimum bend radius is six times the cable diameter. The servo cable has passed all cold and crush-impact tests, thereby meeting all major North American and European standards.

Another notable advantage of the 7TCE is the elimination of expensive conduit. Its UL TC-ER rating means no more labour-intensive, costly conduit; it also means that users can expose the cable’s final termination to equipment with minimal support.

This week, LAPP is launching a new upgrade of the 7TCE – the SERVO FD 7TCE. This version goes further by enabling use in cable chains: its ultra-fine copper wires and high strand count enhance its flexibility, which makes it easier to install the FD in cable track with tight bend radii. This version lasts for millions of bend cycles.

For reliable connections for servo installations, it is always best to go with LAPP and ÖLFLEX®.
