Ohio Broach offers vertical machines for heavy-duty broaching

A line of heavy-duty vertical surface broaching machines is available from The Ohio Broach & Machine Company. These machines feature hardened steel construction, advanced lubrication systems and reliable hydraulics.

Heavy-duty and high precision construction

The Ohio Broach & Machine Company’s series of heavy-duty vertical machines are made using the best materials and designed to last. For instance, the machine ways on these models are constructed from hardened and tempered high carbon steel. Then the machine ways are precisely ground to tight tolerances. 

The ram slides on this series of broaching machines are also manufactured to the highest standards for precision. They are made from high-tensile, close-grain cast iron. To ensure a precise fit and maximum lubrication penetration, the slide surfaces are hand scraped and then flaked.

This high-quality construction ensures durability and long service life. 

Advanced lubrication

All of The Ohio Broach & Machine Company’s heavy-duty machines use pressurized, individual point Trabon lubrication systems — there are no “tree-type” lube circuits. This advanced lubrication system features indicators for low reservoir levels, as well as high pressure. In the case of impaired flow, the high pressure indicator ensures the issue is detected quickly. 

Reliable hydraulics

These machines use Vickers fixed-displacement vane pumps, valves and controls. The hydraulics system features a reliable open-loop design with the pumps and valves mounted on a standalone reservoir.

Other features and machine specifications

The machine is mounted on a rigid base weldment that also serves as a coolant reservoir. This design offers a compact footprint to minimize use of plant space. These heavy-duty vertical broaching machines have five-ton capacities and strokes ranging from 24 to 54 inches. The standard voltage is 440/480, three-phase, 60 Hz. The standard colours are machine tool grey and vista green, with additional options available.
