industrial broaching services

Squares, T-shapes, and irregular shapes are just some of Ohio Broach's capabilities.

For a wide range of industrial broaching services, companies across the continent turn to The Ohio Broach & Machine Company for the best of the best. This company has a highly skilled team of machinists and designers who can tackle any task a client may bring, from building a custom broaching machine to doing the broaching work themselves.

Ohio Broach’s talents and in-house-built machinery enable its staff to cut many different types of shapes into metal, and it has a history of satisfying clients by forming a variety of items, from medical implants to hand tools.

Regular and irregular shapes

Ohio Broach’s industrial broaching services enable it to cut metal into the following examples of shapes:

  • T-shaped slots. Ohio Broach machinists can create special slots, including the unique “T” shape, in only one or two passes. In the two-pass version, the first pass forms the slot and the second generates the top of the letter T. The company can broach almost any kind of metal parts in this way, including brass, steel, and copper parts.
  • Hexes and squares. Broaching professionals can employ a technique known as “broaching on the fly” to create hexes and squares in only one cycle. This involves indexing parts needing these forms with the help of a gap between the tools. Multiple surfaces can be cut in this way, in only one pass.
  • Irregular shapes. Ohio Broach’s team can broach a wide range of slots, angles, keyways, and radii on almost any material, including several types of steel. This can be achieved in the secondary and final operations on parts, in only one or two passes.
  • Teeth and serrations. Industrial broaching services can easily create teeth and serrations of any size as well. Examples of applications include gear teeth on the round rack of a tractor’s power-steering unit or intricate serrations on the motor mount of a large tank. Even small telephone dialing mechanisms can be surface broached in this way.

Other examples include polygons, involute splines, and plier forms, into virtually any type of metal.
