Ohio Broach creates virtually any shape with CNC shaper machine

One of the many tasks it can handle with ease, thanks to its expert staff and state-of-the-art machinery, is the shaping of blind forms.

Shaping capabilities

The Ohio Broach facility in Willoughby, Ohio is home to CNC shaper machines, including a four-axis CNC-controlled machine with limitless movements and the ability to create virtually any special form. Ideally suited for small- to medium-sized lots, this machine can easily machine shapes and forms in blind holes and against shoulders. The Ohio Broach CNC shaper machine has the capability to machine multiple surfaces in seconds, with a speed of 600 cycles per minute.

Some of the parts that have been machined on the company’s CNC shaper machines include electrical connector sleeves and a steering drive component for pickup trucks. These parts were broached on two different models of machines. The electrical connector sleeves, for example, were broached on a single spindle shaper using a high-speed special shaping tool and the company’s OHIO shaper model OB-VM16-2. The steering drive component, on the other hand, was completed using the company’s OHIO CNC shaper model OB-VM16-2X, which was outfitted with a dual shaper head and dual servo-driven indexing tables.
