Norpak Handling: more than three decades of top conveyor solutions

At the dawn of the 2020s, Norpak Handling remains Canada’s go-to supplier for top conveyor solutions – with a customer base that has included Canada Post, FedEx, General Motors, PepsiCo Foods, and the Liquor Control Board of Ontario. For more than 30 years, this distributor has built a reputation for quality material-handling equipment and turnkey conveyor-system solutions for manufacturing plants and warehouses, always offered with committed service, expertise, and high collective experience.

A true conveyor expert

Norpak was founded in April 1988 by a true conveyor expert, Stewart Raynor, after he left a major conveyor company to strike out on his own. He used his years of experience at his former job to aim for top conveyor solutions. Soon after two fellow material-handling experts, Gamey Lycett and Gavin Linn, left the same company to join Raynor’s crew, the new entity could boast that it employed more than a century’s worth of collective experience in the field.

It was not long before the young company grew into one of Canada’s largest Integrators of conveyor components and systems and opened locations across the country. So quick and far-reaching was this expansion that by 1997, Norpak Handling was ready to move into a larger plant in Port Hope, Ont. The new headquarters and shop enlarged the company’s total space by more than double when it was finished the following year.

The company continued to grow in other ways. Norpak acquired the conveyor division of B.C. Conveying Machinery Limited in Vancouver in 2000, expanding its presence in the western provinces. Another milestone that year: Norpak became an Integration Partner with Hytrol Conveyor Company, making the American manufacturer’s top conveyor solutions available to Canadian businesses. A decade later, Norpak purchased McKessock Engineering, raising its profile to unprecedented heights.

Nearly 32 years after its initial establishment, Norpak Handling holds on to its reputation for material-handling solutions – as well as its facility in Port Hope.
