The Port Hope headquarters of Norpak Handling

After close to 35 years in the industry, Norpak Handling Limited remains a leading Canadian provider of material-handling products – with a customer base that has included such names as Canada Post, FedEx, General Motors, PepsiCo Foods, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, Amazon, Lulu Lemon, and Wallace and Carey. All these high-profile companies benefited from Norpak’s committed service, expertise, and collective experience. Norpak has earned a reputation for high-quality material-handling equipment and turnkey conveyor solutions for warehouses and manufacturing plants.

Fast and far-reaching expansion

The Norpak story began in 1988, when conveyor expert Stewart Raynor founded the company after leaving a major conveyor manufacturer to strike out on his own. This new enterprise would aim for top conveyor solutions based on years of experience. Two fellow material-handling experts, Gavin Linn and Gamey Lycett, soon left the same company to join Raynor’s team – which meant that Norpak now employed more than a century of collective conveyor experience.

The young company soon grew into one of Canada’s largest Integrators of conveyor systems and components, with locations across the country. The expansion was so fast and far-reaching that Norpak was ready to move into a larger plant in Port Hope, Ont. by 1997. This new shop and headquarters more than doubled the company’s total space when it was finished over the next year.

Norpak Handling kept on expanding in other ways. It acquired the conveyor division of B.C. Conveying Machinery Limited in Vancouver in 2000, which grew its presence in the western provinces. Also in that year, Norpak became an Integration Partner with Hytrol Conveyor Company, which made the U.S. manufacturer’s innovative conveyor solutions available in Canada. A decade later, Norpak acquired McKessock Engineering, boosting its profile to new heights.

More than three decades after its establishment, Norpak holds on to its reputation for conveyor solutions, as well as its large facility in Port Hope. The company reaches more customers than ever before, through Integration Partners in Calgary, Montreal, Halifax, and Windsor, Ont., plus a sales and service office in Surrey, B.C. Norpak still rules as the best source of conveyor solutions and more.
