The Port Hope, Ont. headquarters of Norpak

This year, Norpak Handling Limited observes its 35th anniversary. That means three-and-a-half decades of serving Canadian industry as a leading supplier of material-handling solutions. In all this time, the Norpak family has earned a reputation in the industrial market for high-quality equipment, including turnkey conveyor solutions, for warehouses and manufacturing facilities.

Among the high-profile companies that have benefited from Norpak’s dedicated service, expertise, and collective experience over its history: Canada Post, FedEx, General Motors, PepsiCo Foods, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, Amazon, Lulu Lemon, and Wallace and Carey.

Locations in Ontario, B.C.

It all began in 1988, when conveyor expert Stewart Raynor left a major conveyor manufacturer to found a new company. Raynor wanted to supply top material-handling equipment based on years’ worth of expertise. He teamed up with Gavin Linn and Gamey Lycett, two fellow conveyor experts who had left the same company, and the new enterprise now employed more than 100 years of collective material-handling experience.

The company quickly grew into one of the country’s largest Integrators of conveyor systems and components, with locations across Canada. This expansion was so fast and far-reaching that by 1997, Norpak was ready to move into a larger facility in Port Hope, Ont. The new headquarters more than doubles the company’s total space when it was completed the following year.

And the firm kept growing: in 2000, it acquired the conveyor division of B.C. Conveying Machinery Limited in Vancouver, expanding Norpak’s presence in western Canada. That same year, Norpak became an Integration Partner with Hytrol Conveyor Company, making the American manufacturer’s groundbreaking conveyor products available in this country. Norpak boosted its profile to new heights by acquiring McKessock Engineering ten years later.

Norpak holds on to its reputation for conveyor innovation, as well as its large plant in Port Hope, 35 yeas after it was founded. The firm reaches more customer than ever before, via Integration Partners in Montreal, Halifax, Calgary, and Windsor, Ont., plus a sales and service office in Surrey, B.C.

As a source of innovative conveyor solutions, Norpak Handling is still the top.
