TILTIX inclinometers are available with cost-efficient fibre-reinforced plastic shells or rugged, IP69K-rated cast aluminum housings.

POSITAL-Fraba recently upgraded its TILTIX line of inclinometers with better performance, more flexible configuration options, and quicker delivery. The new TILTIX units come with three-axis MEMS accelerometers, improved firmware, and a new housing concept – which allow POSITAL to streamline manufacturing processes, shorten delivery times, and maintain full environmental protection.

With identical mounting footprint and support for CANopen and analog communications interfaces, plus higher accuracy and improved signal-to-noise ratios, these updated inclinometers are compatible with older models.

With enhanced programming function

The TILTIX series is used in motion-control and safety-assurance systems to measure a device’s orientation with respect to the earth’s gravitational field. Among the relevant industrial applications are dynamic positioning of solar panels, rollover warning systems for mobile machinery, control systems for crane booms, and tilt control in material-handling systems, service robots, and automated guided vehicles.

One major feature of the upgraded inclinometers is an enhanced programming function that allows the user to set the measurement rage of a device through simple configuration updates. One can customize a POSITAL TILTIX unit to operate as a single- or two-axis sensor, or two-axis pitch/roll sensor, depending on what the specific application may need. This upgrade allows suppliers and system integrators to stock fewer models and still offer a complete line of measurement-range options to customers.

Users can also select new filtering methods through the configuration interface, which allows fine-tuning of these devices for better signal quality and optimized dynamic response. With these features, customers can fulfill the needs of various applications, including cranes and platform monitoring. The new three-axis MEMS accelerometer sensors reduce cross-axis sensitivity while raising measurement accuracy to plus or minus 0.1 degrees over the full range of tilt angles.

These new inclinometers are available from POSITAL in either cost-effective, fibre-reinforced plastic housing or in IP69K-rated metal enclosures. Customers should already be able to order CANopen and analog versions of these instruments, and the manufacturer expects to add SSI and Modbus-RTU interfaces to its catalogue this year. Interested organizations can browse the full range of TILTIX inclinometers via the online POSITAL Product Finder portal.
