Newcomb Spring makes custom parts for many applications. One reason the company is able to meet the needs of its diverse clientele is the capability to use a wide range of materials

Many of the company’s products are made from stainless spring steel, but Newcomb Spring can work with almost any material, including metals and alloys, ferrous or non-ferrous, and standard, semi-precious or precious materials.

Many materials

Some of the materials Newcomb Spring most often works with include spring steel, stainless spring steel, high carbon steel, low carbon steel, nickel-plated carbon steel, non-ferrous metals, stainless alloys, Elgiloy, Monel, Inconel, Hastelloy and titanium.

Other materials are also available by request, as the company offers complete custom design and manufacturing services. In addition, Newcomb Spring can offer a variety of finishing operations, such as anodizing, passivating, stress relieving, shot peening and electro-plating. According to the company, it has developed these customized production capabilities to meet the changing requirements of customers.

“We work to continuously adapt to the ever-changing needs of the metal form and spring manufacturer market.”

Material selection assistance

Newcomb Spring has a team of experienced and knowledgeable professionals who can provide customers with insight and advice on the many options for materials and their various capabilities. That includes information on material lifespan, tolerances and performance. Often, the company is able to recommend alternative materials that offer reduced cost or improved part function.

Material shapes

Newcomb Spring works with both continuous coil and strip materials to produce springs, wire forms and metal stamped parts. Some of the most commonly used material shapes include rolled round wire, flattened round wire, square wire and special-section wire.
