The DSNU-S, Festo’s new space-optimized round cylinder with self-adjusting cushioning, is up to 40 per cent slimmer, 3.5 cm shorter, and 50 per cent lighter than its ISO counterpart DSNU of the same bore and stroke length. A great fit for tight spaces.
Festo Canada has just reworked its DSNU ISO round cylinder into a new lighter space-optimized unit for machine designers who need a smaller option – the DSNU-S. The company has pared down the size and weight of the standard DSNU to respond to the rising demand for smaller versions of standard components, to reduce the footprint of machines and production lines. The DSNU-S is up to 40 per cent slimmer, 3½ centimetres shorter, and ½ as light as a DSNU unit with the same bot and stroke length.
High reliability, long service life
Part of the company’s core product range of components that are always in stock worldwide, the DSNU-S is built for direct mount installation, and its low-wear PUR seals and corrosion-resistant rod and housing guarantee high reliability and a long operational lifespan. The unit’s consistent availability, like that of the DSNU ISO, makes it easy to order – and at attractive prices.
The DSNU-S is available with fixed end cushioning (P) or the company’s self-adjusting cushioning (PPS), depending on the size – which ranges from eight to 25, with a maximum stroke length of 200 millimetres. The PPS cushioning makes commissioning easier and eliminates the need for further adjustment for load changes over the lifespan of the cylinder, which assures perfect cushioning with each stroke. This self-adjusting cushioning is a benefit especially on cylinders in locations that are hard to access.
For users who require better performance, different sizes, or other options, the DSNU ISO also offers the same low-wear PUR seals and a corrosion-resistant piston rod and housing as on the DSNU-S. The DSNU ISO has a few features not available on the DSNU-S, like a heavy-duty sintered bronze bearing at the bearing cap and polymer bearing in rear clevis for longer service life, even with more lateral loading in long stroke or swivel applications.
