The new ERMO rotary drive from Festo
Festo’s Optimized Motion Series (OMS) consists of electrical axes that save money for users in manufacturing, with their long life and efficient, reliable performance. The line’s newest addition, the ERMO, is a rotary drive designed to last for five million cycles.
The benefits of ERMO
The ERMO drive is a high-performance axis used for rotating and aligning work pieces or for swiveling tasks. It is capable of handling heavier loads than many other drives are, and it is also useful for rotary indexing table applications in assembly processes.
Composed of an electromechanical actuator with a motor controller and matching connecting cables for easy web configuration, the ERMO has been designed to absorb high lateral forces and torques, with its axial and radial run-out properties. The actuator includes an integrated electric rotary drive and a stepper motor with a robust rotating plate bearing. The drive is less likely to be contaminated due to its smooth surfaces.
ERMO is available in four different sizes, with a closed loop operation with an encoder as an option. Mounting interfaces allow users to connect ERMO to slides, gantries and other drives.
