With Bluetooth® and Heartbeat Technology, Endress+Hauser’s new Cerabar and Deltabar pressure gauges make it easy to access sensor diagnostics wirelessly – as well as sensor and process data – in safety-critical and difficult-to-access applications.

The latest innovations from Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. are the new Cerabar and Deltabar pressure gauges, which offer a high level of safety blended with productivity-enhancing features. With Bluetooth interfaces that simplify operation and maintenance in safety-critical systems, these gauges are another example of the manufacturer’s smart safety approach to increasing plant availability.

These pressure gauges use proven, dependable, and robust sensor technology, as well as Endress+Hauser Heartbeat Technology, to break new ground.

No cable connection required

The next-generation models in the Cerabar and Deltabar pressure-measurement line are simplified instruments with intuitive operation through the SmartBlue app, including guided operating sequences for parameterization and commissioning. The addition of a Bluetooth interface bridges distances of up to 15 metres, so even hard-to-reach measuring points, or those in dangerous areas, are easily maintained even if they are integrated into the process only via a 4-20mA interface. No one has to open the housing or connect a cable, and real-time pressure data is available anytime.

The NAMUR roadmap “Process-Sensors 4.0” names three criteria for digital process sensors – wireless communication, sensor diagnosis, and provision of data about the sensor and process. The new Cerabar and Deltabar gauges meet these criteria with optional Bluetooth and Heartbeat Technology functions.

Heartbeat Technology creates the basis for predictive maintenance; users can verify the functionality of these devices without process interruption through Bluetooth, typically in less than three minutes. A verification protocol that offers detailed test information is automatically generated, based on the continuous self-diagnostic function of the pressure transmitters – achieving a diagnostic coverage rage of more than 95 per cent. Created by Endress+Hauser, Heartbeat Technology also identifies process irregularities like deviations in loop resistance, which implies a defective cable, or blocked impulse lines such as those triggered by crystallized medium.

The new pressure-measurement technology of these instruments features self-explanatory and efficient operating concepts that stop systematic errors during parameterization. The guided operating sequences show the user what to do, step by step, during commissioning of measuring points and SIL proof tests; this boosts safety while preventing errors and enabling faster task completion.
