New partnership between HARTING and Expleo promotes IoT solutions

The HARTING Technology Group is renowned for its innovative connectivity products, and it also promotes adaptation to Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT). At the recent SPS Trade Fair in Nuremberg, Germany, HARTING concluded a cooperation agreement with Expleo Group – a partnership that reaffirms a long-term cooperation in the fields of data-controlled services and IoT solutions for industrial customers. This cooperation will continue for some time.

The MICA and the SmartANIMO

Philip Harting, the chairman of the board for HARTING, signed the agreement at the trade show along with Peter Seidenschwang, the head of industry at Expleo Germany GmbH. This joint memorandum of understanding by the management of both companies is the culmination of years of cooperation in the MICA network, which is the user organization that supports HARTING’s MICA edge computing system for IoT solutions.

The modular edge computing MICA has been designed and supplied by HARTING according to industrial standards for multiple workplace applications. Expleo contributes its longtime expertise in connectivity and data-scientific competence to this partnership.

Expleo has been working with this network since 2016. The company has been working on the development of a solution for the process and operational optimization of machines and production systems. Expleo’s SmartANIMO application can independently learn the standard behaviour of connected production lines and individual machines on the basis of compiled data, and then it uses this expertise to identify deviations in the process without manual interventions.

By detecting any upcoming issues at an early stage, the app can improve the overall efficiency of the system with a concentration on predictive quality or predictive maintenance. The flexibility and robustness of the MICA allows Expleo to implement the solution in industrial environments and to retrofit existing production systems to be non-invasive.
