New mid-range RFID reader combines hardware durability and software-driven flexibility

RFID readers can be valuable tools in harsh industrial environments. Harting’s new Ha-VIS RF-R300 mid-range UHF RFID reader is specially designed to offer reliable, long-lasting performance in such environments, thanks to its compact cast aluminum housing and rugged, built-in M12 connectors. 

RFID reader advantages and features

The RF-R300 allows users who employ it in their RFID data network to precisely pinpoint which loads are on conveyor belts, which products are on the assembly line or which train is at the platform, for example. The reader features Power over Ethernet (PoE) and eight configurable IOs, and boasts a maximum UHF output power of 500 mW at its two antenna ports. Plus, the unit supports several UHF antenna types, inlcuding both standard ones and unique products like Harting’s flexible, traveling wave, Ha-VIS LOCFIELD. 

The Ha-VIS RFID Reader is based on a MICA platform, and features an easy-to-use web interface. In addition, by employing a modular software concept, the reader supports various communication protocols, including LLRP, OPC-UA and MQTT, as well as customer-specific protocols.
