At the opening for HARTING's new Mexico plant

HARTING Canada is a local branch of the HARTING Technology Group, a global corporation that supplies connectivity solutions to businesses everywhere. Last month, the parent company hit another milestone as it opened a new manufacturing facility in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico – an event that was marked by an inaugural ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Among the big names who co-hosted the ribbon-cutting event were HARTING Technology Group COO Andreas Conrad, HARTING Americas CEO Jon DeSouza, and HARTING Americas COO Florian Stuetzel.

Well positioned for the future

“With this new facility, we are well-positioned for the future,” said HARTING Technology Group board chairman Philip Harting in a virtual address at the ceremony. He added that the corporation adopts a long-term perspective when taking the future into account: “We consider not only the company in Mexico and our global active technology group, but the future of generations to come.

“The facility was designed to reduce our carbon footprint and CO2 emissions,” said Harting. “The new production facility meets state-of-the-art standards and is fully geared to energy efficiency.”

The ceremony was attended by several representatives from state and municipal governments, like Guanajuato governor Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, Silao mayor Carlos Garcia Villaseñor, and Ramón Alfaro Gómez, the secretary of sustainable economic development.

“The company is focused on the future,” said Vallejo in an inauguration speech. “They are aligned with what Guanajuato is looking for, and Guanajuato is aligned with what HARTING is looking for.

“It is a great pleasure to witness this company’s second stage of evolution.”

The first HARTING facility in Guanajuato opened in a 1,200-square-metre building in 2016, with 143 employees. But the company outgrew this plant in less than six years, necessitating an increase to 4,300 square metres of manufacturing and warehouse space, plus an additional 3,000 square metres reserved for future expansion.

Critical to HARTING’s in-the-region, for-the-region strategy, HARTING Mexico Manufacturing will continue to focus on creating innovative connectivity products – like machinery, data centres, e-Mobility, and semiconductors – for major vertical markets. The new facility is strategically located a few miles from Guanajuato International Airport, enabling fast, reliable shipping.
