Harting has unveiled a new connector series that brings modular, user-configurable connectivity with IP69K protection to splash zones in food and beverage production.

The rugged Han F&B connector series consists of FDA 21-approved circular connectors made of non-toxic, high performance PP plastic that offer excellent chemical, heat and cold resistance, as well as resistance to Ecolab-certified cleaning agents. Their IP69K rating means they have proven protection against ingress of dust and high temperature, high pressure water, which makes them ideal for applications where equipment must be sanitized.

Best-in-class features

The new Han F&B connector series has many features that make it a top choice for users in the food and beverage industry. These include:

  • Hygienic design: The connectors have large radii and smooth surfaces, which means dirt and bacteria don’t have cracks or crevices in which to build. This design also makes the connectors easy to clean — and keep clean.
  • Plug and play: Han F+B connectors have all of the advantages that plug and play, connector-based wiring offers over traditional hard-wiring, including a more efficient machine design, faster assembly and reduced maintenance downtime and expense. The result is a lower total cost of ownership over the lifetime of that system. Users can configure their Han F+B connectors by selecting from 25 Han 3A contact inserts for transmitting power, signal and data. In addition, there is a Han F+B insert especially designed for this series.

A leading manufacturer

Harting is the only connector manufacturer offering an RJ45 solution for splash zone connectivity, which means that a huge volume of control and diagnostic data from advanced processing and packaging equipment can now be transmitted via Gigabit Ethernet in environments where daily washdowns or steam cleanings are performed.

Harting is a family owned company employing more than 4,000 people globally. The German-based manufacturer of connectivity solutions has an office in Saint-Laurent, Que.
