Sandpiper's new BEAST anti-clog pump

Sandpiper has introduced an innovative pumping solution that is available from York Fluid Controls Ltd.: the BEAST, an anti-clog, heavy-duty flap valve pump. This is a patent-pending air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) unit that is specifically designed to overcome the common limitations of other AODD pumps and technologies on the market.

The BEAST from Sandpiper is an ideal solution for such industrial applications as mine dewatering, meat and poultry processing, and chemical sumps.

Pumping wide variety of fluids

What makes the BEAST unique among fluid-control products is its groundbreaking flap-valve technology that allows large solids to pass freely as it resists the accumulation of packable dust and small solids. As a result, this pump prevents the clogs that are so frequent with AODD pumps from other manufacturers. The BEAST offers the reliability that customers have come to expect from Sandpiper products, with the innovative flap-valve design that solves a common issue that affects so many manufacturers.

Available in metallic and non-metallic two-inch models, the BEAST is perfect for pumping the widest variety of fluids that contain solids and chemicals. Sandpiper deems this pump suitable for handling small or large solids, packable material, harsh chemicals, viscous fluids, and abrasive fluids.

The metallic model offers port size of two inches NPT, capacity from zero to 787 litres per minute (lpm), solids handling of up to five centimetres, heads up to 125 pounds per square inch (psi) or 88 metres of water, displacement/stroke of 1.8 litres, maximum operating pressure of 125 psi, and shipping weight of 39 kilograms (kg) in aluminum or 76 kg in either cast iron or stainless steel. The non-metallic version, also available from York Fluid Controls, has port size of two inches NM NPT (internal), BSP (tapered), ANSI and DIN flange, plus capacity from zero to 644 lpm, up to 46 millimetres of solids handling, heads up to 100 psi or 70 metres of water, displacement/stroke of 1.9 litres, maximum operating pressure of 100 psi, and shipping weight of 24 kg for the pump. Both versions have air-distribution valves with a no-lube, no-stall design.
