The combination of the tubing PUN-H-F and the stainless-steel push-in fitting NPQR from Festo guarantees compliance with food-safety requirements for manufacturers of food and packaging machines.

Festo Canada recently released a new food-safe tubing: the PUN-H-F polyurethane tubing. Blended with push-in NPQR stainless steel fittings, this solution offers the perfect combination for the food-processing and packaging sectors, particularly in applications that involve food contact. The PUN-H-F design is equally suitable for use in food and non-food zones.

An excellent option for a broad variety of scenarios, both PUN-H-F tubing and NPQR fittings meet the requirements for Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 and FDA 21 CFR 177.2600.

Easy installation in any system

The kink resistance of this tubing enables easy installation in any system, and it also resists hydrolysis and microbes, making it ideal for environments with high moisture or water at temperatures as high as 60 degrees Celsius. The composition of the material prevents hydrolytically induced cracking, which can lead to premature failure. The black variant resists ultraviolet rays, making it appropriate for outdoor use, and the “natural” colour variant is perfect for applications in which the operating medium is gaseous oxygen.

NPQR fittings are also certified according to the NSF 169 standard, which denotes high levels of resistance to most media and chemicals, plus extreme corrosion resistance. To join the tubing to the fitting, the user simply pushes the former into the latter for a secure, seal-tight connection. The fittings are very easy to clean, with a food-compliant design that minimizes edges in which dirt can accumulate.

Among the technical specifications for PUN-H-F tubing:

  • Material calibration: external
  • Outer diameter: four, six, eight, ten, 12, 14, or 16 millimetres
  • Colours: blue, black, green, red, or yellow
  • Transparent colours: blue, natural
  • Operating temperature range: -35 to 60 degrees Celsius
  • Operating pressure range: -0.095 to one megapascal
  • Appropriate media: compressed air, vacuum, water, natural oxygen
