The 300 Vue series from Teledyne Hastings

The latest series of gas thermal mass flow sensors from Teledyne Hastings Instruments is the 300 Vue series, comprising three types of devices that offer the quickest, most accurate, and most convenient gas measurement and control. Available in Canada from Durham Instruments, these devices are ideal for many applications, including alternate energy, fuel cell research and development, secondary calibration reference, specialty gas delivery, and custody transfer.

Better accuracy and linearity

The 300 Vue series has innovative flow sensors with several advantages over previous instruments, like improved accuracy, enhanced linearity, and a quick settling time. Durham Instruments recommends these devices for several industries, including general manufacturing, aerospace, automation and controls, food processing, pharmaceuticals, the medical sector, power generation, and alternative energy.

Teledyne Hastings manufactures three models of instruments in the 300 Vue series:

  • HFC-D-308A/B – Digital mass flow controllers, which provide quick valve response and flow control through digital technology; users can optimize this response for applications involving up to 10,000 standard litres per minute (SLM) of air flow. Accuracy in nitrogen of plus or minus 0.5 per cent of reading plus 0.2 per cent of the full scale.
  • HFM-D-306A/B – Digital flow meters, with microprocessor-based circuitry that linearizes the flow response and provides high accuracy. The 306B meter is available with an optional colour touchscreen display. Accuracy in nitrogen is similar to that of the HFC-D-308.
  • HFM-306 – Analog flow meter, which has an accuracy of plus or minus two per cent of the full scale. Typically calibrated with air or another appropriate standard calibration gas, after which a correction factor is applied.

The 300 Vue series is available with flow ranges starting at zero and ending from 2,500 to 10,000 SLM. They have an operating pressure of up to 300 pounds per square inch, as well as NIST traceable calibration. The digital meters also feature totalized flow.

Teledyne Hastings’ 300 Vue sensors are designed to offer exceptional linear response to changing flow rates, with electronics that are tuned precisely to provide quick response times, plus a laminar flow element to configure the device.
