Endress+Hauser’s new Prosonic Flow W 400 clamp-on flowmeter makes it practical to apply well-proven, safe and easy to install ultrasonic flow measurement with clamp-on sensors to basic and standard applications in process automation. Shown here: Flow W sensors for pipe diameters DN 80 to 4000.

Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. has just introduced the Proline Prosonic Flow W 400 clamp-on flow meter, a safe and easy-to-install instrument for basic and standard applications. This device blends proven liquid-measurement technology with the benefits of the Proline lineup to satisfy many user needs, like long-term cost-effectiveness, comprehensive process monitoring, and planning measuring points with maximum freedom. Customers can use the Flow W 400 for volume measurement, totalizing, balancing, process monitoring, verification of previously installed flow meters, and pipeline leak detection.

Unique Flow DC function

This flow meter has a non-intrusive clamp-on method in which the user mounts the flow sensor directly onto the pipe; this allows safe measurement of corrosive, abrasive, or toxic liquids, whatever their pressure or conductivity. The clamp-on sensors of the Flow W 400 can be retrofitted anytime, even on pressure pipelines in the energy and power industries up to four metres in diameter. Utilities is another industry with high demand for flexible retrofitting, for measuring energy flows.

The Flow W 400 is available with the unique Endress+Hauser Flow DC function as an option. Launched with the Prosonic Flow P 500 series in 2021, this groundbreaking feature detects flow disturbances on the measurement signal, so that calculation can compensate for them. This keeps the specific measuring accuracy even with a substantially decreased inlet run. Planners get more flexibility for retrofitting systems with clamp-on flow meters this way.

The device has robust, stainless steel ultrasonic sensors that provide low-maintenance, long-term operation even in demanding conditions. They are usable in non-hazardous environments at process temperatures from -40 to 130 degrees Celsius. The Flow W 400 also includes a web server as standard, giving users direct access to all data with no additional hardware or software – just a standard Ethernet cable and laptop.

All Proline measuring instruments contain Heartbeat Technology, a testing function that allows permanent self-diagnostics with more than 95 per cent diagnostic coverage and a traceable device verification during operation. Users can mount the Flow W 400 on a broad range of pipeline types and materials – metal, plastic, or glass-fibre-reinforced plastic.
