Festo has officially opened its Regional Service Centre (RSC) in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, giving the leading manufacturer of pneumatic and electric automation technology the capability to meets its customers’ needs faster. The strategic location of the logistics and assembly plant, and its use of advanced technology, means that 70 per cent of all customers in North America can be delivered with automation products in a 10-hour truck drive.

Location, location, location

The carefully chosen geographical location of the new RSC should have a significant impact on the company’s supply chain. Located in the heart of the North American industry near numerous highway connections, airports and a DHL distribution centre, the new facility is situated in the perfect spot to quickly serve customers from New York to Chicago to Toronto to Atlanta.

Highly automated

The new distribution and manufacturing centre enables Festo to triple its capacity, allowing for more flexibility, improved services and plenty of space for future growth. Its highly automated warehouse system has a storage capacity of 65,000 bins, and features seven high-performance picking stations and the capability to pick and pack 1,000 items per hour. Every workstation is able to pick up to four customer orders at the same time, while a pick-by-light system and an integrated scale ensure a very high pick quality. This highly automated order picking system is comparable to the sophisticated warehouse systems of the strongest retail brands.

In addition, a 10-aisle automated storage retrieval system (AS/RS) with 73,000 locations provides the picking and packaging area with goods over a conveyor system network. Integrated sequence buffers ensure a sequence-friendly provision of the ordered goods at the workstation, and an optimal workload of the pick and pack locations.

Additional details

This new RSC is just another way Festo is meeting the needs of its customers across the globe. Companies in North America can now enjoy quicker access to Festo’s high-quality pneumatic and electric automation technology.
