HARTING's EasyCon connectors are simple to use.

The HARTING Technology Group offers new connectivity solutions for the rail transportation sector. Han HPR 22 Slim connectors are a flexible, strong choice that are ideal for harsh environments and have extra options to enable rolling-stock manufacturers to assemble the complex electrical systems of today’s equipment.

Another important addition to the HARTING Han HPR series of rugged connectors is the addition of two sizes to the Han HPR EasyCon line. Now available in sizes 16 and 34, EasyCon now has more versatility in terms of contacts and applications.

Fits into height-restricted spaces

The Han HPR 22 Slim was developed in response to a HARTING customer in Vienna, Austria, who required a connector designed to fit a gap of approximately eight centimetres between a tram body and a bogie. The result is a connector that accommodates as many as four 250A contacts, but with a flat profile that works for the underside of a railway car and similar spaces with limited height. With its slim profile, the Han HPR 22 Slim leaves room for other critical systems in wiring pathways.

The EasyCon has a two-part hood and mounting housing that make it easy to connect: the user simply screws it together in a few quick steps, and the ample interior space for cables for car-to-car or motor connections makes everything simpler for installers working on the equipment. While the EasyCon was originally available only in size 24, the two new sizes allow for more high-current-carrying capacity and configuration options than other HPR interfaces have.

EasyCon size 16 houses two to four high-current contacts (or up to two 650A contacts), which makes it ideal for connecting compressors, single-wheel drives, and ventilation systems; users can configure this connector as a hybrid for HARTING Han-Modular power, signal, or data modules, choosing from more than 100 inserts.

Size 34 of the EasyCon accommodates up to four 650A contacts and houses as many as 12 Han-Modular inserts as a hybrid. It comes in a straight version to enable traction motor connections, as well as an angled version for car-to-car jumper connections.
