Festo Canada remains on the cutting edge of industrial technology, and its parent company recently teamed up with a special laboratory in Chicago to spur new education and innovation opportunities: the Oracle Industry Lab. This facility will help customers to harness the power of employee upskilling while offering a testing ground for businesses to explore and develop solutions to resolve tough manufacturing challenges. Oracle, which opened on April 26, offers hands-on, simulated industry settings for experimentation, learning, and bringing transformative technology to life.
Holistic platform for smart manufacturing
The Oracle Industry Lab will allow visitors to interact with a sophisticated Festo Learning Factory, used worldwide for training and workforce development programs. This Learning Factory models the next generation of Industry 4.0 production plants and offers a holistic platform for students to understand smart manufacturing. The automated machinery uses advanced sensors, controllers, and software to make Lot Size One simulated cell phones. Students follow the process from order entry through production to final distribution.
Because the demand for a skilled workforce in manufacturing is increasing rapidly, new innovations will be necessary to prepare the next generation of workers. In partnering with Oracle, Festo Didactic is working with the leading information company to harness the power of data for the training and education field.
Measuring around 30,000 square feet and supported by Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband, the Oracle Industry Lab assembles customers, technology partners, and the full Oracle portfolio of solutions and decades of deep industry expertise to incubate and demonstrate new innovations in multiple sectors. The laboratory will initially focus on use cases in utilities, construction, engineering, communications, and manufacturing.
Many industries are at a crossroads today, as they attempt to navigate increasing regulatory, environmental, and customer demands. Oracle was created to bring together leading innovators, including Festo Didactic, to help their customers shape bold ideas into powerful new products that boost productivity, operational intelligence, and sustainability.
Festo Didactic, the educational portion of The Festo Group, offers state-of-the-art training equipment and educational programs for businesses and educational institutions, with about 56,000 customers around the world.
