In its extensive production operation, this company has been using NDC’s on-line, near-infrared gauging systems for accurate monitoring of moisture and oil content in its snack foods for two decades. These gauges have delivered reliable service at temperatures higher than 50 degrees Celsius and under the permanent influence of dust and oil vapour. This approach was working locally, but with the customer’s wide range of brands and locations, it was not always consistent, so some locations were using competitors’ gauges instead.

Several years ago, the snack manufacturer started to rethink the way it was using measuring equipment to decrease its reliance on manual testing and to standardize how gauges were used for process and quality control. The company decided to conduct a close assessment of NDC gauges and competing products as part of this process.

The NDC applications technical support team stepped in with input on its products’ outstanding performance. As a result, the customer now distributes company-wide instructions on how to measure oil and moisture in snack foods with NDC as the only specifically named producer.
