Multi-station, multi-spindle machines at L. & M. have cost-saving capabilities

L. & M. owns an impressive range of machinery.

L. & M. Precision Products Inc. is the largest screw-machine jobbing shop in Canada and has been in business for close to six decades. One of the key reasons for the company’s long-term success is the variety and capabilities of its equipment. The L. & M. team operates more than 70 first-operation automatic screw machines in its expansive facility – including numerous multi-station and multi-spindle machines. This type of equipment enhances the firm’s versatility in creating precision-machined components with exceptional efficiency.

Multi-station transfer machines

L. & M. has several multi-station transfer machines that can achieve money saving cycle times for complex parts that would normally require more than one operation on other equipment in medium and large volume production runs. Parts are usually produced complete with exceptional quality and consistency.

The multi-station machines at the L. & M. are both 12- and 16-station Hydromats. As of this writing, the company owns the following types:

• Five Hydromat machines with 12-station capability;
• One Hydromat machine with 16-station capability.

Multi-spindle machines

L. & M. has more than 30 multi-spindle Davenport and Wickman machines. These machines can produce medium- and large-volume production with extremely precise and high-quality results. Exceptional cycle times allow for cost savings in comparison to some parts that are normally produced on CNC machines.

Many of the multi-spindle machines at the L. & M. plant can handle up to a 1¾-inch capacity. As of this writing, the company owns the following types:

• Sixteen Davenport five-spindle automatic screw machines;
• Sixteen Wickman six-spindle automatic screw machines.

Some of the above multi-spindle machines have Cucchi Bar loaders on them.

In addition to this equipment, L. & M. uses more than a dozen Brown & Sharpe single-spindle machines, as well as almost 20 CNC and Swiss-style production machines. The company also has a full secondary-operations department for machining, milling, assembly, drilling, tapping, broaching, centreless and plunge grinding, thread rolling, and more.
