From voltage to current transmitters

Customers can choose from among voltage transmitters, current transformers, analog signal transmitters, current transmitters, and power-measurement transmitters from the NK lineup. Voltage transmitters measure AC voltage either directly or via a voltage transformer; the transducer converts the AC voltage signal to either a DC mA or a DC voltage output that is directly proportional to the input signal value. Five series of NK voltage transmitters are available from the Mod-Tronic inventory.

An analog signal transmitter is a field-mounted instrument that senses such physical parameters as pressure or temperature. It then generates a current that is proportional to the measured variable in the standard range of four to 20 mA. Two models of analog transmitters are available – one with an AC input, one with a DC input.

Current transformers are used to reduce or multiply alternating currents; they produce secondary currents that are proportional to the initial primary current. These are not to be confused with current transmitters, in which the current is sourced by the power supply before flowing in a controlled fashion through the instrument and then into a receiver, and finally returning to the power supply. Mod-Tronic carries more than 20 models of NK current transmitters, the majority of which have AC inputs. Input ranges and power supplies vary widely, depending on the specific model, and most are approved by international safety standards.

Finally, NK’s power-measurement transmitters are power modules designed to extend the range of a power source. Mod-Tronic carries three types of these transducers, with varying output ranges and two of them with internal input types.
