MOCAP’s tapered plugs protect threads and fittings from contamination, damage

MOCAP supplies nine types of protective tapered plugs.

One of the more popular lines of protective products available from MOCAP is its group of tapered plugs. These plugs are designed to protect threads and fittings from moisture, contamination, and damage during production, shipping, or storage.

Tapered plugs make up just one of MOCAP’s three groups of protective plugs; the company also produces friction fit plugs and threaded plugs made of varying materials.

Various colours, shapes, and designs

The nine types of tapered plugs available from MOCAP are as follows:

• Tapered plug caps. Red protectors with a unique dual-function closure that enables workers to use them as plugs or caps. Made of tough low-density polyethylene (LDPE) for secure fits, but also easy to remove. Designed to fit multiple diameters. Nearly 100 sizes available.
• Wide-flange plug caps. Similar to tapered plug caps, but with wider flanges for extra protection for external surfaces and to prevent users from accidentally pushing them all the way through openings. Available in 24 sizes.
• Thick wide-flange plug caps. These include thicker, wider flanges for easier handling and are coloured yellow for high visibility. They comply with the standards of the aerospace and military sectors. More than 50 sizes available.
• Thick extra-wide-flange plug caps. The widest flange of MOCAP’s plug-cap series. Recommended for tube and hydraulic fittings, tube end caps, or pipe caps. Yellow and available in 14 sizes.
• Centre pull plugs. Like standard MOCAP tapered LDPE plug caps, but with centre pull tabs for easier removal. Red; nearly 40 sizes available.
• Centre pull plugs with wide flanges. Similar to the centre pull plugs, but with wider flanges for better surface-area protection. Extra-strong tabs ensure plugs will not break off. Available in 14 sizes.
• Paper tapered plugs. Economical, environmentally friendly light-brown plugs made out of recycled paper and that do not promote condensation. Available in 21 sizes.
• EPDM tapered plugs. These black, rubber, chemical-resistant plugs can handle temperatures up to 149 degrees Celsius. Available in 23 sizes.
• Silicone tapered plugs. Can withstand temperatures up to 316 degrees Celsius. Available in 23 sizes.
